    What are All-on-4® Dental Implants
  • Why Consider All-on-4® Dental Implants?

All-on-4® dental implants are a stable, long-term solution for replacing missing or severely damaged teeth. Compared to traditional dentures, they provide greater support, a more natural appearance, and improved function—allowing for stronger biting forces and a more nutritious diet. Implants also help prevent premature bone loss, may help prevent gum recession, and a sagging facial appearance.

With proper care, All-on-4® implants can last 25 years or more. The trademarked surgical protocol uses a technique that avoids or reduces the need for bone grafting. While All-on-4® involves higher upfront and maintenance costs than dentures, it offers significant functional and aesthetic benefits.

During your consultation, we’ll assess your needs and recommend the most suitable treatment option for your smile and budget.

    • Within days, you’ll try in a wax model for adjustments before your final teeth are fitted by day five.
    • Follow-ups at 4 weeks and 3 months check your healing, speech, and bite.

  • All-on-4® Teeth After Surgery

Every dental clinic approaches All-on-4® treatment differently. The type of implants and prosthetic teeth used in All-on-4® treatment can vary in quality, affecting their price, durability and treatment outcomes.

At our practice, we use a single-stage approach to your All-on-4® teeth. We fit a titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge just days after your surgery. The titanium is digitally-milled to precision and is laid underneath high-quality acrylic teeth.

This first bridge is designed to last 2 to 5 years (however in some cases can last longer with proper care) before needing a replacement. Using a titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge aids healing of your implants, is more affordable than the two-bridge approach that some implant dentists use, and can last much longer than a bridge that is made of 100% acrylic and intended to be worn temporarily.

  • All-on-4® Bridge Replacements

When it’s time for a new bridge, you can choose to have it made from the same durable acrylic material, or you may opt to upgrade to zirconia or porcelain-layered zirconia for a more refined, natural-looking result. Zirconia bridges typically last between 10 to 15 years with proper care.

    • Remodel an existing bridge - This is where we replace the acrylic and teeth over the original titanium frame
    • Replacement titanium-acrylic bridge - A new titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge with a visible polished frame that's easier to clean
    • Monolithic titanium-zirconia bridge - An aesthetic and durable replacement bridge option (available after implants have healed from surgery)
    • Porcelain-layered zirconia bridge - Titanium-reinforced zirconia that has been layered with porcelain for transluncency and character

Frequently asked questions

All-on-4® is an advanced dental implant technique developed by Professor Paulo Malo for Nobel Biocare, a Swiss dental implant company. It involves securing a full arch of teeth onto just four strategically placed dental implants. This method is designed to reduce or remove the need for bone grafting. Replacement teeth are fitted within one to three days of surgery, making it a fast and efficient solution for full mouth restoration.

During the procedure, two implants are placed at the front of the jaw and two at the back, angled at 45 degrees to avoid nerves and sinuses. A titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge is tried in within one to two days and securely fitted by day five. Both the All-on-4® technique and implants are registered trademarks of Nobel Biocare.

All-on-4® uses fewer implants than conventional full mouth dental implant treatment (four per arch) the two back implants are strategically placed to avoid nerves and sinuses and reduce the need for bone grafting. Conventional full mouth implants require an implant per tooth and often involve additional procedures.

Most adults with missing or badly damaged teeth may be suitable, even with some bone loss. Suitability is determined by a comprehensive assessment and 3D imaging to check the quality of available jawbone. Factors that can influence treatment success include:

  • Jawbone volume and quality
  • Type of implants used
  • Experience of your surgeon and the surgery
  • Quality of teeth attached to implants
  • Long-term patient care, lifestyle factors and hygiene

It may still be possible to achieve a successful outcome if you have lost a degree of jawbone.

All-on-4® is designed to maximise the use of available jawbone even at times when there is severe bone loss. However, your dentists may recommend using additional or longer implants to ensure your log-term implant success.

The All-on-4® technique has made full arch teeth replacement with dental implants a possibility for more people worldwide however, it won’t necessarily be the most suitable solution for your individual treatment needs. Book a consultation and assessment with our implant dentist to see if it’s the right option for you.

Surgery typically takes 2–3 hours per arch and is performed in one appointment. By day five you’ll have high-quality teeth fitted that may last you between two to five years before needing to be replaced.

No. A local anaesthetic is administered to numb the area and avoid any sensation of pain. Your anaesthetist administers a secondary form of sedation (either intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia) so you can sleep through surgery. A degree of pain and swelling during the initial week or two after surgery is common and varies depending on the individual. This is usually managed with over-the-counter medication.

Your new set of teeth—a titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge—is usually fitted within 1 to 3 days of surgery. This high-impact acrylic bridge is underlaid by a milled titanium frame that has been designed to last between two to five years before being replaced.

A titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge is a fixed dental implant bridge designed to attach securely to All-on-4® implants. It’s expertly crafted by a prosthetist using high-quality acrylic layered over a digitally milled titanium frame, offering superior strength and stability. This design allows for a passive fit, which promotes optimal healing during the recovery phase. Thanks to its quality construction, this bridge can typically last between two to five years—or even longer—before needing to be replaced.

We call this a single-stage approach to All-on-4® teeth, conversely, the traditional method is to place a temporary bridge that needs to be replaced with a more permanent bridge (two-stage or two-bridge approach) within three to six months of healing. Our single-stage approach promotes better healing of implants and saves you the cost of a replacement bridge within the first year of surgery. Watch the video to learn more:

Yes. No prosthetic lasts forever. The high-quality acrylic bridge you are fitted with after surgery is known as a final immediate bridge, and may typically last between 2 to 5 years. After that, you can choose to replace it with the same material or upgrade to zirconia or porcelain-layered zirconia for greater durability and aesthetics.

Zirconia bridges are available as a replacement All-on-4® implant bridge. Reinforced with a titanium frame, a zirconia is highly durable, natural-looking, and can last between 10–15 years or more with proper care.

For the ultimate aesthetic option, you may also consider a layered bridge which consists of a titanium-reinforced zirconia bridge that has been layered with porcelain to mimic the translucency of natural teeth.

All-on-4® treatment starts from $21,000 per arch or $40,000* for both arches and includes:

  • Four Nobel Biocare NobelParallel™ CC dental implants placed using the All-on-4® trademark protocol
  • Four Nobel Biocare Xeal™ titanium abutments
  • A fixed titanium-reinforced high impact acrylic bridge
  • Clinical radiographs (excluding 3D CBCT scan $226)
  • 6 months of follow-up appointments
  • 5-year warranty on implants; 5-year warranty on titanium bar and 2-year warranty on acrylic teeth^

*Any necessary treatments prior to your surgery, tooth extractions, hospital and anaesthetist fees are not included and subject to individual circumstances and private health cover. ^Warranty is subject to attending implant reviews, six-monthly check-ups and hygiene maintenance appointments. All-on-4 treatment requires ongoing maintenance costs such as professional cleaning and bridge repairs and replacements when needed. How often your All-On-4 bridge needs to be replaced depends on the type of bridge you choose, your oral hygiene, biting forces and lifestyle factors.

Every dentist uses their own method to All-on-4® surgery. Our single-stage approach loads your implants with a titanium-reinforced acrylic bridge within 1-2 days of surgery, eliminating the need for a temporary bridge. Unlike the traditional method that require replacing an initial acrylic bridge within 3 to 6 months of surgery, this long-lasting bridge contains a milled titanium bar for added strength and a passive fit, which helps support implant healing. Our lab technician custom-makes your bridge within 1–2 days of surgery. With proper care, your bridge can last 2–5 years or more before needing replacement.

Our single-stage approach to All-on-4® teeth saves you the cost of having to pay for another bridge within the first year of your surgery.

Alternative treatment options to replace badly damaged or missing teeth include dental bridges that rely on adjacent teeth for support or removable dentures that rest on the gums or use suction to stay in place.

Dental bridges may last between 5 to 15 years before a replacement is needed, while acrylic dentures may last between 5 to 10 years before needing to be relined or replaced.

All-on-4® teeth are fixed in place and do not need to be removed each night. They look more like natural teeth, offer improved chewing efficiency for a more nutritional diet and aid better digestion, dental implants support jawbone health and won’t slip or require denture adhesive to stay in place.

All-on-4® treatment has higher upfront costs compared with other full arch replacement options. The teeth attached to the implants need to be replaced from time to time (between 2 to 15 years) depending on tooth materials, lifestyle habits and how well they are card for. Dental implants are designed to last anywhere 20 years to a lifetime, with proper care.
